I can honestly say I’m a true Brit now! I’ve complained about the weather.
We never get snow where I live. I’ve been here 10 years and we’ve seen it around 4 times. Each time it had disappeared after a few hours.
So when I set out to the supermarket on Tuesday I just wasn’t expecting it.
I walk everywhere as I can’t drive anyway, and as I set out it was fine.
As I exited the supermarket [with 4 bags!] it was snowing.
Big giant snowflakes. It didn’t look like it was sticking, mainly because I was walking through the car park and due to the traffic it couldn’t stick.
But as I turned onto my street it had started to.
After 30 minutes we had an inch!
Yes, snow is lovely in the right circumstances.
But with the Siberian temperatures we’ve been having it’s a no no.
The snow stopped falling after a while, but the temperature was below freezing.
So we’ve had pavements of ice ever since.
Not good.
The road outside my house was like an ice rink.
Schools were shut.
Central heating was kept on.
And the cats still want to play outside
